EXFO Selected By China Mobile Communications Corporation

EXFO’s powerful, rackmounted LTE analyzer, the PowerHawk Pro, was standardized by China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC) for the ongoing TD-LTE rollout. In addition to a custom KPI counter application, EXFO’s analyzers were chosen for their high-capacity signaling analysis, IP application analysis as well as high data-capture rate with massive local storage. Upgrade options for VoLTE testing and support for legacy 2G/3G technologies were important factors also.

Among the four other vendors that were considered, our analyzers were selected thanks to  their ability to analyze signaling and user plane data over a rate of 5Gbps and provide accurate KPI’s and correlated end-to-end LTE call records.

Over the course of this three-month trial period, EXFO was able to prove its superiority with respect to functional testing, EPS counter testing as well as capture performance and load testing. This included the functional testing of the LTE analyzer’s basic features, data-capture capacity, LTE real-time and offline trace file analyses, as well as EPC user-plane analysis performance tests.

The PowerHawk Pro performance and scalability was also an important element in this decision. This single tool is designed to help equipment manufacturers and service providers effectively optimize network service and troubleshoot live, multitechnology networks. It is a flexible, probe-based solution with open interfaces to KPIs and data records that can be easily integrated into broader systems.
