Radio frequency (RF) signals

What is a radio frequency (RF) signal? In electronics and telecommunications, an RF signal refers to any time varying voltage, current or electromagnetic wave that carries information. The simplest form of signal is a simple sinusoid, and can be represented by mathematical functions with the following parameters to define it:

  • Amplitude(will tell how much power the signal carries)
  • Frequency(how fast the signal repeats)
  • Phase(position of the signal in time)
